Beautifully Illustrated Children’s Book Provides the Answer in a Delightful Story
WEST TOLUCA LAKE, Calif. – In his new children’s book, Buzz The Busy Bee Who Wanted To Get To Heaven (published by AuthorHouse), author and illustrator Fred Barca helps Buzz find out the answer to a very puzzling question: Do bees go to heaven?
The question “What happens after we die?” has been with us forever, and it continues to fascinate and perplex children and adults alike. In a recent interview featured in Time magazine, Dr. Sam Parnia, a leading expert on the scientific study of death, explained that his work is both encountering and breaking down resistance to understanding death:
We're pushing through the boundaries of science, working against assumptions and perceptions that have been fixed. A lot of people hold this idea that, well, when you die, you die; that's it. Death is a moment – you know you're either dead or alive. All these things are not scientifically valid, but they're social perceptions.
Barca is of a similar mind. It is natural to be fearful of the unknown, he writes, arguing that his book fills a void in children’s literature by explaining the natural event of life and death in a way children can understand without fear.
Buzz The Busy Bee Who Wanted To Get To Heaven is a brightly illustrated book that addresses concerns children may have about heaven. Most kids have been told that after a bee uses its stinger, it dies. Barca takes this well-known scenario one step further.
Buzz believes that he can find where heaven is on his own. In his quest, Buzz encounters a number of characters: some friendly and willing to help, including Rubber Band George (a grasshopper) and Mrs. Robin, and some not-so-friendly. As Buzz’s journey goes higher and higher, from blades of grass up into the sky, it proves to be one of friendship, faith, determination and love.
About the author and illustrator: Fred Barca has been a graphic designer and fine artist for many years and enjoys storytelling, illustrating and writing. He has a way of expressing his views in a visual perspective that is beautiful, fun and exciting. This is the second book that has been published for Fred making him an established author an illustrator. He is currently working on his third book as well as his second children’s book titled "Angel Bear". It is scheduled to be released in 2009.
